On April 17th<\/sup>, in Shanghai, the conference on \u201cClimate Neutral and Smart Cities: Challenges for Italian and Chinese Cities\u201d, part of the the Italian Research Day 2023 Activities, was organized by the Italian Consulate General in Shanghai and the Shanghai Academy of Social Science, with the cooperation of Turin Polytechnic University and the Association of Italian Academics in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This conference was held at Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, organized and moderated with key contribution of Professor Roberto Pagani, Professor at the Polytechnic University of Turin and former Scientific Attach\u00e9 of the Consulate and Director of the Europe-China Clean Energy Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Massimo Bagnasco, in his address, underlined the importance to plan cities which should be, at first, \u201cfriendly\u201d to the final users, the human being. Then he added that: \u201cwe should never underestimate the importance of an integrated urban and rural development since a way to decrease the pressure on the cities is to improve the quality of living and supporting facilities in the rural area, then have a more balanced density of the human settlement and control the unlimited spread of the megalopolis\u201d. A joint work among all the stakeholders is then necessary to reach technical, economic and social development targets, which should be aligned with the \u201cDual Carbon Goal\u201d strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
